Badges, Crests and Chenille Built to Be Stitched On
A patch is a small piece of branding that can be moved, upgraded and applied to almost anything. We make embroidered, woven, chenille, PVC and leather patches with the backing you need, then apply them to garments in our factory or ship them loose. Most orders start at 50 pieces.
- Embroidered, woven, PVC, leather
- Iron-on, sew-on or Velcro backing
- Applied in our factory or shipped loose
- Custom shapes and merrowed edges
Five patch types, five different looks
Embroidered patches use thread stitched onto a twill base, with a border sewn around the edge. They have a classic raised texture and handle bold designs well. Woven patches are made on a loom with very fine thread, so small text and detailed artwork reproduce more crisply and the surface lies flatter.
Chenille patches use looped yarn for a fuzzy, varsity-jacket look, often combined with felt or embroidery. PVC patches are moulded from soft rubber and are waterproof, colourful and durable, suited to outerwear, bags and tactical gear. Leather patches are debossed or laser engraved, giving a heritage feel on denim, caps and jackets.
Backing decides how a patch attaches. Iron-on backing uses heat-activated adhesive and suits light-use garments. Sew-on patches have a plain backing and are stitched around the border for permanent fixing. Velcro hook and loop backing lets users remove the patch, typical for uniforms and bags. Our team recommends the combination for each garment.
Matching patch type to your project
Embroidered for classic badges
Embroidered patches suit logos with bold shapes and limited detail. The raised stitching and merrowed border give a traditional badge look for uniforms, clubs, workwear and streetwear collections.
Woven for fine detail
Woven patches reproduce small lettering and intricate artwork cleanly, with a thinner profile. They suit labels, sleeve badges and designs that would clog in thick embroidery thread.
Chenille for varsity styling
Chenille gives that classic letterman texture. Use it for large initials, mascots and school lettering on jackets and hoodies, often with felt backing and embroidered outlines.
PVC and leather for durability
PVC resists water, mud and sun, making it right for outdoor and tactical garments. Leather ages well and suits premium denim, caps and bags where a rugged, crafted look matters.
Why order patches from us
Custom shapes and borders
Cut your patch to any outline, with merrowed borders for a raised stitched edge, or laser cut for sharper contours and fine detail in woven and PVC types.
Backing for every use
Iron-on, sew-on, Velcro, adhesive and pin backings are available. We advise based on fabric and wear, since iron-on alone is rarely enough for jackets or heavy use.
Applied in our factory
We stitch patches onto your garments with correct placement and alignment, which is quicker and more consistent than hand application, especially on large orders.
Proof and sample approval
You receive a digital proof showing colours and dimensions, and a physical sample on request, so you approve the patch before the full run is produced.
Patch options
Send your artwork, patch type, size and quantity. We will confirm backing and border options, quote the run and send a digital proof for approval.
Sizes and shapes
Common sizes run from 3 cm badges to large back patches over 25 cm. Any outline is possible, though very thin protrusions can curl, so we simplify tight shapes.
Colours and thread
Embroidered patches use up to 12 thread colours in standard production, matched to Pantone references. Woven patches allow more, since thread is blended. PVC colours are mixed per job.
Edge and texture finishes
Merrowed borders suit simple shapes, hot cut edges suit complex shapes. Add metallic thread, glow thread, 3D puff stitching or chenille overlays for extra impact.
Backing and attachment
Choose iron-on for light use, sew-on for permanence, Velcro for removability. Add heat-seal film or a plastic stabiliser to prevent curling, and we can sew them on for you.
Patches compared with direct embroidery
Choose a patch when the design is large, when you want mixed materials, or when you want to apply the branding to many different garments. A single patch design can go onto jackets, caps and bags, and can be replaced without damaging the garment.
Choose direct embroidery for small logos on polos and shirts, where a patch would add bulk and cost. Choose printing for photographic art. If you need a removable badge for uniforms, specify Velcro. If you need a permanent hard-wearing option, sew-on is the best choice.
Who orders this
Patches serve groups that need an identity badge and brands that want a crafted look. They are easy to swap, collect and reuse across product lines.
- Streetwear labels adding chenille and woven badges
- Clubs, scouts and societies ordering membership patches
- Uniform suppliers needing removable ID and rank badges
- Outdoor and tactical brands using PVC and Velcro patches
- Schools creating varsity jackets with lettered chenille
Care & durability
Sew-on patches are the most durable and can be washed with the garment on a gentle cycle. Iron-on patches may lift after repeated hot washes, so we recommend adding a few stitches along the border for permanent wear.
Do not tumble dry PVC patches on high heat, which can soften them. Leather patches should be kept away from soaking and harsh detergent. Chenille is best washed cold and air-dried.
Patch questions answered
Straight answers to the questions buyers ask us most. Anything missing? Send an inquiry and we will reply within one business day.
Iron-on or sew-on: which should I choose?
Iron-on is quick and fine for light use. Sew-on is stronger and recommended for jackets, workwear and anything washed often. Many customers choose iron-on backing and add a border stitch, which gives the best of both.
What is the minimum order for patches?
Most patch types start at 50 pieces. Chenille and leather may carry higher minimums because of material set-up. Tell us the type and quantity and we will confirm exactly, including options for smaller sample runs.
What is the difference between woven and embroidered patches?
Woven patches use finer thread on a loom, so small text and detail reproduce better and the patch is flatter. Embroidered patches are thicker, with a raised texture and bold look. Choose by artwork detail and desired feel.
Can you attach the patches to the garments?
Yes. We stitch patches onto your garments during production, placed to your specification. You can also order patches loose and apply them yourself. Heat application needs correct temperature and pressure, so sewing is safer for heavy fabrics.
Are PVC patches waterproof?
Yes, PVC is moulded rubber, so it resists water, dirt and fading, which suits outerwear, bags and tactical use. Colours and 3D detail are well defined. Standard PVC is not designed for extreme high heat, so avoid ironing it.
