Waterproof Rain Jackets With Rated and Taped Protection
A rain jacket is only as good as its seams and rating. We make ours from PU-coated polyester, nylon and PVC-free laminates, with waterproof ratings from 5,000 to 10,000 mm, fully taped seams, storm flaps and adjustable hoods. Poncho, anorak and full-zip designs are available. Minimum order is 50 pieces.

Waterproof ratings and seam sealing decide real-world performance
The waterproof rating is measured as a water column in millimeters. A 5,000 mm fabric handles light to moderate rain, 8,000 to 10,000 mm suits sustained rain, and higher ratings need laminated membranes. Face fabrics are typically 190T to 300T polyester or nylon with a PU coating, with breathability from 2,000 to 5,000 g per square meter per day.
Seam taping matters as much as fabric. Needle holes let water through, so we heat-seal waterproof tape over every seam, which gives a fully taped jacket. Critical seams, such as shoulders and hood, are taped first. Zips are either waterproof with a PU coating, or covered with a storm flap and a snap or hook-and-loop closure.
Styles range from thin, packable shells to lined work jackets. Hoods can be fixed with a stiffened peak, rolled into the collar or detachable. Cuffs use elastic, adjustable tabs or storm cuffs. We make children’s, women’s and unisex cuts, with reflective piping available for visibility. All waterproof claims are verified by a test report before bulk dispatch.

What keeps the rain out
Rated waterproof fabrics
Fabrics are tested to hold a stated water column, such as 5,000 or 10,000 mm. We provide a lab test report and select coating thickness to match your climate and price.
Heat-taped seams
Waterproof tape is bonded over seams by machine, sealing needle holes. Tape color can match or contrast the jacket for a design feature, and taped seams improve durability.
Adjustable hoods
Hoods have drawcords, a stiffened peak and a rear adjuster to keep vision clear in rain. A stowable collar hood keeps a clean neckline in dry weather.
Waterproof closures
PU-coated zips, storm flaps and elasticated cuffs block water at the entry points. Pockets are either covered by flaps or welded shut to prevent leaks.

Heat transfers
Heat transfers apply a logo without puncturing the fabric, so waterproofing remains intact. We test adhesion and washing, and choose transfers that stay flexible at low temperatures.
Rubber and silicone patches
Raised patches add a technical look and resist water. They are heat-pressed or welded, and avoid stitching through the coating.
Small embroidery with seam tape
Where embroidery is needed, we place it on a flat panel, keep density low, and add a backing tape on the inside to seal needle holes. This is a trade-off, which we explain at quote stage.
Reflective prints and trims
Reflective print or piping on the back, hem or sleeve adds visibility. It is applied flat and tested for wash resistance, which suits cyclists, crews and school uniforms.

Care & durability
Wash rain jackets with a mild detergent on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry on low to help reactivate the water repellent finish. Avoid fabric softener and bleach, which degrade coatings. Store dry, not compressed for long periods.
Coatings and tapes are tested for wash durability and hydrostatic head after laundering. With proper care, a rain jacket keeps its waterproof performance for several seasons.

What is the difference between water-resistant and waterproof?
Water-resistant fabric repels light rain but eventually soaks through. Waterproof fabric, with a coating or membrane and taped seams, resists sustained rain. We test and report the water column for each jacket.
Do I need taped seams?
If you want true waterproof performance, yes. Without taping, seams leak. For light showers or promotional jackets, critically taped seams, such as shoulders and hood, can be a compromise.
Can you supply a test report?
Yes. We run hydrostatic head and breathability tests on fabric samples, and provide the results. Third-party lab testing can be arranged for large orders where a certificate is required.
Is PVC used in your jackets?
We offer PVC-free options such as PU coatings and TPU laminates. PVC is available on request for rugged uses like ponchos. We confirm material details at quoting, so you can meet your market's regulations.
How can I make a rain jacket breathable?
Choose a thin PU coating or a laminated membrane, and add underarm vents or mesh lining. Higher breathability lowers waterproof rating slightly. We recommend a balance based on use.
