Why a crop hoodie is not just a short hoodie
Simply chopping length off a standard hoodie leaves a messy result. The kangaroo pocket lands too low, the hood sits wrong and the hem band flares. We build crop hoodies on their own pattern, with pocket position, hood depth and body width adjusted to a body length of roughly 45 to 55 cm.
Fabric weight is heavier than a tee for a reason. A 280 GSM French terry gives a softer, more breathable feel for spring, while 320 to 380 GSM brushed-back fleece gives a thick, warm, structured piece. Heavier fabric also holds the boxy crop silhouette without collapsing around the waist.
Many styles use a wide, short body with a tight rib hem band, which creates the characteristic blouson effect. We can also produce a straight hem with no band. Drawcords, eyelets and pocket styles are all configurable, and a pre-production sample lets you confirm the proportions.

Construction that holds a cropped shape
Reworked hood and pocket
Hood depth, drawcord position and pocket placement are all adjusted to the shorter body. This keeps proportions right, so the hood does not overwhelm the garment and the pocket stays reachable.
Heavy fabric for structure
A 320 GSM fleece holds a boxy crop outline, and a tighter hem band prevents flare. Lighter 280 GSM French terry suits warmer seasons and a softer drape.
Rib trims with recovery
Cuffs and hem bands use 2×2 or 1×1 rib with elastane for recovery. A good rib keeps its grip and stops the hem from sagging after repeated washing.
Premium detailing
Metal or rubber aglets, flat or round drawcords, metal eyelets and custom zip pullers can be specified. Details like these lift a simple crop into a considered retail product.

Chest-focused placement
With less body, chest and upper back are the main print zones. We place graphics higher than on a standard hoodie and scale artwork to avoid collision with the pocket or hem band.
Embroidery on fleece
Thick fleece takes embroidery well when a water-soluble topping is used to hold the thread above the pile. We digitize with this in mind, so small text stays legible and crisp.
Puff and screen print
Heavy fleece supports puff ink on bold shapes, and screen print gives strong colour. Brushed fleece pile can affect fine detail, so we recommend simplified artwork or a test print.
Patches and rhinestones
Twill and chenille patches add dimension on a thick base, and rhinestones suit fashion-led styles. We position each detail to sit clear of the pocket and rib seams.

Care & durability
Wash inside out in cold water and tumble dry low or hang dry. Avoid high heat, which can shrink the hem band. Keep embroidery and prints away from direct ironing.
Brushed fleece can pill slightly with friction, so we choose tighter, higher-quality yarns. Rib trims with elastane keep the hem and cuffs firm, and the garment keeps its cropped shape over time.

How short can the body be?
We typically produce body lengths from about 45 to 55 cm, depending on size and style. Shorter is possible, but pocket and drawcord positions need to change. We recommend a sample to check the proportion.
Can I choose between fleece and French terry?
Yes. French terry has a looped back and is lighter, with a softer drape. Fleece has a brushed back and is warmer and thicker. We send swatches and can produce either at 50 pieces per colour.
Will the hem band flare out?
A hem band that is too loose will flare. We choose rib width and elastane content to match the body, and tune the band tightness on the sample. Straight hems without a band are also available.
Do you offer zip-up crop hoodies?
Yes. Zip-up styles use a metal or coil zip and a stabilized front placket. They need a different pattern from pullovers, and we confirm zip type and puller options in the technical spec.
Can embroidery be done on thick fleece?
Yes. We use water-soluble topping and the right stabilizer so thread sits above the pile. Small text may need to be enlarged, and we test stitch on the actual fabric before bulk.
