DTG works like an inkjet printer for fabric. Water-based inks are sprayed directly into the cotton, which means gradients, shadows and fine line work reproduce exactly as designed. There is no screen to burn and no colour limit, so ten different designs cost no more to set up than one.
That flexibility makes DTG the practical route for new brands testing artwork, for catalogues with many designs, and for single-piece fulfilment. It is also why we use it for our print-on-demand service, where an order of one is as welcome as an order of one hundred.
DTG is best on high-cotton fleece. We prefer 320 to 380 GSM with a smooth, tightly knit face, ideally 80 to 100 percent cotton, because inks bond to natural fibre. Dark garments need a white underbase, which we apply and cure carefully so the print stays flexible and does not feel like a plastic sheet.

What makes a good DTG hoodie print
Photographic detail
Gradients, soft shadows and fine textures print cleanly because ink is applied as microscopic droplets. Illustrations, photos and complex artwork keep their detail at a resolution of 1200 dpi.
Pre-treatment control
Cotton fleece is pre-treated to hold ink at the surface. We control the amount and cure it evenly, which stops the bleed and halos that spoil prints on uneven fleece.
Soft hand feel
Water-based ink soaks into the fibre rather than sitting on top. Light and mid-tone prints feel almost like unprinted fabric, which suits large chest and back designs.
Zero set-up for variety
Because no screens are needed, you can order many designs or colourways in small quantities. This lowers risk for new collections and lets you reorder only what sells.

Dark and coloured garments
A white underbase makes colours bright on black or navy fleece. It adds a slightly firmer feel, so we keep it to the shapes that need it and avoid covering the whole garment.
Artwork preparation
Send PNG at 300 dpi at final size with a transparent background, or vector files. We check resolution, colour profile and fine lines, and flag anything likely to look weak.
Placement options
Full front, back, oversized and all-over print on cut panels are possible. The hood, pocket and seams limit printable areas, so we confirm print boundaries on your mockup.
Combine with other methods
DTG pairs well with embroidered logos, woven neck labels and printed inner tags. This gives a small-batch product the finishing touches of a premium collection.

Care & durability
DTG prints are durable when cured correctly. Turn the hoodie inside out, wash at 30 degrees, and avoid fabric softener, which can weaken ink adhesion over time. Tumble on low or line dry for the longest life.
Expect very gradual softening of colour over many washes, which is typical of water-based ink in cotton. For designs that must stay bright for years of heavy use, we can suggest screen print as an alternative.

Is DTG good for large quantities?
It works at any quantity, but unit cost does not fall as sharply as with screen print. Past a few hundred pieces of one design, screen print is usually cheaper. We will compare both in your quote.
Why does DTG look different on dark hoodies?
Dark fabric needs a white underbase so colours show. It makes the print opaque and vivid, with a slightly firmer feel than on white fleece. We tune underbase coverage to keep the hand as soft as possible.
What fleece blend is best for DTG?
High-cotton fleece, ideally 80 to 100 percent cotton, gives the best bond and colour. Polyester-heavy blends can show dye migration and weaker results. We will recommend a base if your artwork is colour critical.
Can I order a single hoodie to check quality?
