Rugby Jerseys Strong Enough for the Scrum

A rugby jersey is pulled, gripped and dragged for eighty minutes. BERMGOODS makes rugby jerseys with heavy collars, reinforced seams and optional grip-friendly weaves, in sublimated or woven stripe designs, together with shorts and socks, for clubs, schools and unions of every size.

Overview

Made to be grabbed and still look right

Rugby jerseys face forces that most sportswear never sees. Opponents pull collars and sleeves, props bind on shoulders, and tackles drag fabric across turf. A good rugby jersey is built to a close fit that gives little to grab, with seams that stay intact and a collar that does not tear. We approach each style with those loads in mind.

We make jerseys in a heavy polyester or cotton-polyester knit, around 200 to 260 gsm, with a rib collar and a short placket or a flat collar for modern styles. Sleeve cuts can be set-in or raglan, with a close cuff. Fabric treated with a light textured finish provides grip when carrying the ball in wet weather. Sublimation allows full designs, from hoops to gradients.

Clubs often need more than one jersey. Forwards and backs can use different fits, with a looser cut for front-row players and a tighter, lighter cut for backs. We also provide training tops, pre-match warm-ups and supporter-style replicas, all produced from one design file so colours match across the full kit.

Reinforced collars

Collars are made from heavy rib or a stitched flat band with taped seams, so they resist tearing when pulled. A reinforced neck tape adds extra strength where tackles often catch.

Grip and fit zones

Close cuts reduce loose fabric that opponents can hold. Some designs add a textured weave at the chest and sleeves to help ball carriers keep grip in wet conditions.

Seam strength

Shoulders and side seams use stitching with extra reinforcement and flatlock finishes, which reduce chafing against skin. Cuffs and hems are double stitched to survive repeated grabbing.

Hooped socks and shorts

Shorts are heavy twill or stretch polyester with a drawcord, and hold up in scrums. Socks are knitted in matching hoops or stripes, in youth and adult lengths.

Options

Badges, numbers and sponsors

Send your club colours, badge and squad numbers. We will return a mockup with collar and fabric recommendations and a production timeline.

01

Club badges

Badges are embroidered or woven for a premium finish. We digitise them so that fine detail, such as scrolls or lettering, stays readable at a small size on a thick knit.

02

Numbers and names

Numbers one to fifteen, plus replacements, are heat-pressed or sublimated on the back and sometimes the chest. Names are optional. We follow your union's guidance on number size and position.

03

Hoops, stripes and panels

Sublimation lets you create hoops, quarters, chevrons and panels in any colours, with no seams or stitched joins. A woven, sewn stripe jersey remains available for a classic finish.

04

Sponsor and union marks

Sponsor logos can be printed, sublimated or heat transferred. We can add federation or union marks in the correct location, and keep a record of your kit for the following season.

Buyers

Who orders this

Rugby clubs run from community sides to schools and academies. They buy in full squads of fifteen starters plus replacements, and typically want durability above all.

  • Community rugby union and league clubs
  • Schools and colleges outfitting first and junior teams
  • Academies and youth pathway programmes
  • Touch and tag rugby leagues that need lighter jerseys
  • Supporters and sevens teams wanting replica or event jerseys
Durability

Care & durability

Rugby jerseys are washed often and used hard. Wash in cool water, inside out, and hang to dry. Treat mud and grass stains early, and avoid bleach. Tumble drying on high heat can stress rib collars and any heat-pressed numbers.

Heavy knit and reinforced seams take repeated tackling, and sublimated colours stay bold through many washes. Collar and cuff ribbing is knitted to recover its shape.

FAQ

Rugby buyers ask

Straight answers to the questions buyers ask us most. Anything missing? Send an inquiry and we will reply within one business day.

Yes. Forwards often prefer a slightly roomier fit, while backs like a close cut. We can make both from the same design and size chart, so the team still looks uniform.

They are built heavier and with reinforced collars, seams and cuffs. No jersey is tear-proof under extreme force, but heavy knit and strong stitching make a significant difference in the length of a season.

Yes. We produce numbers one to fifteen and replacements, with sizes in a range from youth to 5XL. A roster file lets us pack them by number so squad distribution is quick.

Lighter jerseys and shorts suit sevens and touch. We use thinner knits for speed, and adjust fits and trims, while keeping the same badge and colours as the main club kit.

Yes. Training tops can be made in a lighter fabric, in either club colours or a simpler scheme. We share colour values with the match kit so the whole set works together.
