Lightweight Tanks Cut Clean at the Armhole
Tank tops expose the armhole and neck binding, so finishing shows more than on any other tee. We build ours in 140 to 180 GSM jersey with taped or bound armholes, at lengths and widths that suit gym, beach and street use. Order from 50 pieces with free mockups.
- Bound, taped armholes
- 140 to 180 GSM light jersey
- Gym, beach and street cuts
- Private label from 50 pcs
A summer staple with fewer places to hide
With sleeves removed, the construction of a tank is in plain view. The armhole shape, binding width and neckline depth all decide whether the tank looks cheap or considered. We pattern armholes by use, with deeper cuts for gym and training shirts and a more modest scoop for casual wear.
Fabric weight is lower than a standard tee. We use 140 to 160 GSM cotton jersey for a light, breathable feel, 160 to 180 GSM for a more structured option, and cotton-polyester blends where drape and quicker drying matter. Combed cotton gives a smoother surface for printing small logos.
Binding is a key detail. A self-fabric or contrast binding at the armhole and neck, sewn with a coverstitch, keeps the edges from rolling or stretching. We can also offer a raw-edge style for a deliberately casual look, with swatch testing so you know how it will behave in the wash.

Neat armhole binding
Binding is cut to the right width and tension so it lies flat without pulling or gaping. Properly set armholes stay comfortable when arms are raised, which matters for training use.
Breathable fabric choices
Light jersey allows airflow in hot conditions. Cotton-poly blends add moisture handling and dry faster, which suits active use, while pure cotton gives a softer hand for casual wear.
Cut options by use
Standard cuts have a narrower shoulder strap, muscle cuts have deeper armholes and racerbacks use a Y-shaped back panel. We pattern each to its purpose and grade it across sizes.
Label placement
A woven neck label can irritate bare skin, so we recommend printed inside neck labels on tanks. We can also add small side-seam labels and printed size tags.
Decoration on a smaller canvas
Tell us your fabric preference, cut and artwork. We will return a quote and mockup. Minimums start at 50 pieces per style and colour, with a dedicated account manager.
Chest and back prints
Tanks have less width than a tee, so we scale artwork to the narrower body. Standard chest prints are around 25 to 28 cm wide. Screen print and DTG both work well on light jersey.
Small logo placements
A left chest or centre chest logo is the most common choice. We keep embroidery light on thin fabric, using low stitch counts and soft stabilizer to avoid puckering.
Heat transfer and DTF
Both suit blends and polyester, with strong colour and fine detail. We pay attention to stretch, using flexible transfers so they do not crack when the fabric is pulled.
Back details
A printed back graphic or nape hit gives the garment a second statement. We keep these within the narrower back panel and clear of the racerback seam where applicable.
Who orders this
Tank tops cover a wide range of buyers, from gym brands to holiday merchandise. They suit anyone selling into warm weather or active use, where weight, breathability and armhole comfort matter more than a heavy handfeel.
- Gym and fitness brands selling branded training tanks
- Beach, resort and holiday merchandise sellers
- Summer festival and event organizers ordering light shirts
- Sports clubs wanting warm-weather training wear
- Streetwear labels adding seasonal sleeveless graphic pieces
Care & durability
Wash cold and dry on low heat, or hang dry. Avoid wringing, which can stretch armhole binding. Turn the garment inside out to protect any print.
Light jersey is not as hard-wearing as heavy cotton, but proper binding and stitching keeps armholes stable. Blends tend to hold shape and colour well under frequent washing.
Tank top questions, answered
Straight answers to the questions buyers ask us most. Anything missing? Send an inquiry and we will reply within one business day.
What is the difference between a tank and a singlet?
The terms overlap. We generally use tank top for casual and fashion cuts in cotton, and singlet for performance and team styles, often in polyester. If you are unsure which suits your use, send details and we will recommend.
What fabric weight should I choose?
For hot weather, 140 to 160 GSM cotton is light and breathable. For more structure, choose 160 to 180 GSM. Cotton-poly blends are lighter in feel and dry faster. We can send swatches to compare.
Can you make a racerback tank?
Yes. We have racerback patterns in women's and unisex sizing. They need a slightly different grade across sizes, so tell us your target fit and we will confirm measurements on the sample.
Does printing change the feel on thin fabric?
Heavier inks can feel stiff on light jersey. We recommend water-based ink or DTG for a soft hand, and keep print areas moderate. A test print on your chosen blank confirms the feel before production.
Can armholes be customized?
Yes. Depth, width and binding style can be adjusted to your reference. We recommend a pre-production sample so you can test comfort and appearance before the bulk run is approved.
